{"616126":{"#nid":"616126","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Updated Faculty Position Advertising Template Advances Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EIn late September, Georgia Tech formally adopted a new template for advertising faculty positions.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESpearheaded by Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.advance.gatech.edu\/overview\u0022\u003EADVANCE Program\u003C\/a\u003E, the initiative to update the existing template enabled a closer alignment of the language in faculty hiring ads with the institution\u0026rsquo;s goals around diversity, equity, and inclusion.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe amended ad states: \u0026ldquo;Georgia Tech prides itself on its technology resources, collaborations, high-quality student body, and its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion \u0026hellip; We strongly encourage applications from women, underrepresented minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans. Georgia Tech has policies to promote a healthy work-life balance and is aware that attracting faculty may require meeting the needs of two careers.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EADVANCE Professor and Georgia Power Chair Kim Cobb noted that the revised template \u0026ldquo;serves to remind the entire Georgia Tech community of our shared goals and responsibilities in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ECobb previously worked with colleagues in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences to develop updated language to advertise new faculty positions.
