I know that the last two weeks of term and the holiday season can be particularly stressful and that the loss of two members of our community last week has made these weeks even more difficult for many of you.
You have access to different resources that offer you a place to decompress and just be - even if for only a few minutes.
Counseling Center
The Counseling Center welcomes drop-ins in the Student Services (Flag) Building from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Friday. They also offer support through the Peer Coaching Program for student-to-student support. The after-hours number for the Counseling Center is 404-894-2575.
The Center will have extended hours through Thursday, Dec. 6. with drop-in hours until 7pm on weekdays.
If you are not a current client but wish to be seen for an initial consultation, you can get help without completing the intake paperwork.
Additional Let’s Talk sessions have also been scheduled for this week.
Psychiatry within Stamps Health Services provides general psychiatric services to undergraduate and graduate students and their spouses. Students interested in scheduling an appointment may call 404-894-2585 or stop by Psychiatry. (health.gatech.edu/services/psych)
Dr. John Stein, Dean of Students
You can always reach Dr. John Stein and members of the Office of the Vice President and Dean of Students. They are available to meet and support you with any mental health or academic concerns, and they can connect you directly to campus resources.
This office also has a referral option if you are concerned about a friend or classmate (referral.studentlife.gatech.edu).
Although I am not a trained counselor or mental health care professional and cannot offer more than resources and encouragement to seek out resources, your well being is the top concern for me. Please try to take care of yourself physically and emotionally. If you have any worries about a friend, colleague, or classmate, please let someone know who can offer assistance quickly. If you are feeling overwhelmed, there are people on campus who are trained and ready to help you.
