{"613903":{"#nid":"613903","#data":{"type":"news","title":"RBI Fellow Chinmay Satam receives Ziegler Best Paper Award","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003ERBI Fellow Chinmay Satam receives Ziegler Best Paper Award\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EChinmay Satam, ChBE, a paper science and engineering graduate and RBI Fellow, recently received one of two Ziegler Best Paper awards of 2018.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESatam\u0026rsquo;s paper titled \u0026quot;Spray-coated multilayer cellulose nanocrystal-chitin nanofiber films for barrier applications\u0026quot; was published in ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering. His advisor is Dr. Carson Meredith, ChBE.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026quot;I am extremely elated to receive this prestigious award,\u0026rdquo; Satam said. \u0026ldquo;This is recognition of the hard work done by myself and my colleagues, Cameron Irvin and Augustus Lang and especially the wonderful undergraduate researchers at Georgia Tech ChBE. None of this would have been possible without the support of our advisors, Dr. Carson Meredith, Dr. Meisha Shofner and Dr. John Reynolds and the Renewable Bioproducts Institute.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Waldemar T. Ziegler Awards were established by the family and friends of the late Waldemar T. Ziegler to honor his lifelong commitment to academic excellence and research. Ziegler was on the faculty of the School of Chemical Engineering from 1946 until his retirement in 1978, when he was named Regents\u0026rsquo; Professor emeritus. He died in 1996, leaving behind a legacy of outstanding research in the fields of cryogenics and thermodynamics. Ziegler was instrumental in establishing both the School\u0026rsquo;s and Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s reputations for outstanding research.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ETwo individual Ziegler Awards are presented annually to graduate students. The Ziegler Award for Best Paper began in 1998, and the Ziegler Award for Best Proposal began in 2005.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe submission deadline for the next Ziegler Awards is July 15, 2019.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;For the Proposal award, the proposal must be defended by a second-year student before June 30, 2019.
