The salient features of the MMCs can potentially be exploited for various applications at medium- and high-voltage levels including adjustable speed drives, solid-state transformers, grid integration of renewable energy resources, etc. However, for each application, unique operational and control challenges are imposed. As a result, unique control strategies and design considerations are required to guarantee proper operation of the MMCs, achieve high power density, efficiency, and reliability. Over the past decade, significant research has been performed to address the technical challenges associated with control and operation of various MMC topologies and to unveil their full promises. This thesis is in continuation of this endeavor.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":"","field_summary_sentence":[{"value":"Control and Fault Tolerance Improvement of the Class of Modular Multilevel Converters "}],"uid":"28475","created_gmt":"2018-10-24 18:55:31","changed_gmt":"2018-10-24 18:55:31","author":"Daniela Staiculescu","boilerplate_text":"","field_publication":"","field_article_url":"","field_event_time":{"event_time_start":"2018-11-01T11:00:00-04:00","event_time_end":"2018-11-01T13:00:00-04:00","event_time_end_last":"2018-11-01T13:00:00-04:00","gmt_time_start":"2018-11-01 15:00:00","gmt_time_end":"2018-11-01 17:00:00","gmt_time_end_last":"2018-11-01 17:00:00","rrule":null,"timezone":"America\/New_York"},"extras":[],"groups":[{"id":"434381","name":"ECE Ph.D. Dissertation Defenses"}],"categories":[],"keywords":[{"id":"100811","name":"Phd Defense"},{"id":"1808","name":"graduate students"}],"core_research_areas":[],"news_room_topics":[],"event_categories":[{"id":"1788","name":"Other\/Miscellaneous"}],"invited_audience":[{"id":"78771","name":"Public"}],"affiliations":[],"classification":[],"areas_of_expertise":[],"news_and_recent_appearances":[],"phone":[],"contact":[],"email":[],"slides":[],"orientation":[],"userdata":""}}}
