They are cross-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties at Stamps Health Services including\u0026nbsp;scheduling appointments, taking down patients medical history and performing basic medical labs to name a few.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWe spoke to Women\u0026#39;s Health Medical Assistant, Lani Tucker to gain greater insight into the inner workings of her role at Stamps Health Services.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat does your day to day look like as a Medical Assistant (M.A)?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMy daily activities include both front and back office duties. I assist our Georgia Tech students, with a smile, from their first call to schedule an appointment, greeting them for their visit, taking vitals, ordering labs, giving immunizations, and assisting with discharge instructions and scheduling follow up appointments.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EHow long have you been an M.A. at Georgia Tech?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI\u0026#39;ve worked as a Certified\/Registered Medical Assistant at Georgia Tech since 2011.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhy did you decide to become an M.A.?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI always wanted to work in healthcare because the human body intrigues me and I enjoy helping and educating others about health. I\u0026nbsp;received my Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting in 2003.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat is your favorite thing about being an M.A.?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMy favorite thing about being a Medical Assistant, besides helping others, is the time my job allows me to spend with my children. I get to fulfill my desire to practice health care and still have my evenings and weekends free.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat do you enjoy most about working at Georgia Tech?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI enjoy the cultural diversity I experience working here at Georgia Tech.
