NASA Administrator Visits Georgia Tech

Administrator of the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Maj. Gen. Charles Frank Bolden Jr. recently
visited campus, meeting with Georgia Tech President G.P. “Bud” Peterson and
Executive Vice President for Research Steve Cross.

Aerospace Engineering Chair Vigor
Yang also provided an overview of the school, which receives approximately 30
percent of its research funding from NASA.

While on campus, Bolden had the
opportunity to view NASA-funded research in the combustion lab and in the high-power
electric propulsion lab, and to speak to Georgia Tech faculty and students
about NASA’s future.

According to Yang, Bolden and NASA
team members have been working effectively in advancing the nation's space
missions and goals. Bolden’s emphasis on the importance of technology
development will make NASA a major source of scientific and technological
innovation, in addition to its primary function as an operational agency.

"Georgia Tech will benefit
significantly from such a move," concluded Yang.
