Dr.\u0026nbsp;Ippolito\u0026rsquo;s lecture,\u0026nbsp;\u0026ldquo;Francophonie and Neocolonialism in Africa,\u0026rdquo;\u0026nbsp;discussed\u0026nbsp;political and\u0026nbsp;cultural aspects of Francophonie through various media (print, web, and television), and showed how French has been and\u0026nbsp;continues to be used for neo-colonial purposes. It addressed situations in\u0026nbsp;countries such as Rwanda,\u0026nbsp;Cameroon, the\u0026nbsp;Comoros and France itself, and pled for a new kind of decolonization in post-francophone\u0026nbsp;cultures.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDr.\u0026nbsp;Christophe\u0026nbsp;Ippolito\u0026nbsp;(Chris) is an Associate Professor in the School of Modern Languages at Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s Ivan Allen\u0026nbsp;College of Liberal Arts, and an associate member of the French Research\u0026nbsp;Center \u0026ldquo;Ecritures\u0026rdquo; (EA 3943). He specializes in post-1800 French literature and\u0026nbsp;culture, and\u0026nbsp;contemporary African\u0026nbsp;cultures, and has published books on Flaubert and description, edited volumes on the Middle East, modern France, and more than 50 book\u0026nbsp;chapters and articles. Selected as a Georgia Power Professor of Excellence representing the Ivan Allen\u0026nbsp;College of Liberal Arts in 2016, he has recently published two edited volumes on literature and the notion of life, and autobiography today, and edited a journal issue on autobiography and society. A monograph on post-francophone identities is forthcoming.
