Professor\u0026nbsp;Khapaeva\u0026#39;s keynote \u0026quot;Death as a Cultural Condition\u0026quot; discussed the facination of death in the mid-1990\u0026#39;s on screen and in fiction, covering Gothic and\u0026nbsp;apocalyptic genres in popular culture from the late 1970\u0026#39;s - 2010\u0026#39;s.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDina Kapaeva joined the \u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/modlangs.gatech.edu\u0022\u003ESchool of Modern Languages\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/strong\u003E in 2012. She received a PhD in Classical Studies from St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg, Russia. She studies Russian literature and culture, including the grand literary tradition and Soviet and post-Soviet fiction and film. Her research and teaching interests lie in the intersection of cultural studies, memory studies, medievalism, history of emotions and death studies.
