Recently, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced it would award $12 million to accelerate the search for a universal flu vaccine.

In a new Scientific American article, ISyE Professor Eva Lee describes her efforts as lead analyst on a multidisciplinary team of researchers from Emory, the CDC, and Georgia Tech to predict the immunity of a vaccine without exposing individuals to infection -- including flu, yellow fever, and malaria.
