The GT Computing community welcomed 381 new bachelor\u0026rsquo;s of science\u0026nbsp;alumni, 469 new master\u0026rsquo;s of science alumni, and 15 new Ph.D. alumni this spring.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe festivities kicked off on May 3 with the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ccgatech\/albums\/72157668777314428\u0022\u003ESpring 2018 Dean\u0026#39;s New Graduate Alumni Celebration\u003C\/a\u003E held at Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s Historic Academy of Medicine. More than 100 \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.cc.gatech.edu\/academics\/degree-programs\/phd\u0022\u003EPh.D.\u003C\/a\u003E, \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.cc.gatech.edu\/future\/masters\/mscs\u0022\u003EMS Computer Science\u003C\/a\u003E (CS), \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.omscs.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EOMSCS\u003C\/a\u003E, and \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.cc.gatech.edu\/academics\/degree-programs\/masters\/ms-hci\u0022\u003EMS in Human-Computer Interaction\u003C\/a\u003E graduates, along with their family and friends, attended the evening event.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Graduating from Georgia Tech is not easy. In fact, it\u0026rsquo;s probably been one of the biggest challenges of your lives,\u0026rdquo; said Dean of Computing \u003Cstrong\u003EZvi Galil\u003C\/strong\u003E. \u0026ldquo;But, as they say, membership has its rewards, and you\u0026rsquo;ll find that your diploma will open a lot of doors for you.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;So remember us when you are out making the world a computationally better place. All of us at the College of Computing are very proud of you, what you have done, and what you have yet to do. Congratulations once again.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EPrior to the celebration, many of the graduating OMSCS students and their families were \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ccgatech\/albums\/72157694679560411\u0022\u003Etreated to a campus tour\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;led by the College\u0026#39;s associate director of student experience, \u003Cstrong\u003EDavid Joyner\u003C\/strong\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch4\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026#39;Go break some eggs\u0026#39;\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h4\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ENew undergraduate GT Computing alumni were in the spotlight the following day. More than 200 people attended the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ccgatech\/albums\/72157695962474114\u0022\u003ESpring 2018 Dean\u0026rsquo;s New Undergraduate Alumni Celebration\u003C\/a\u003E held on May 4 in the Klaus Advanced Computing Building Atrium.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;\u0026hellip;As you stand on the precipice of this amazing success, remember that, without fail, we ALL fail\u0026hellip;but, failure is the single greatest teacher you will ever encounter, Yes, even better than \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.cc.gatech.edu\/news\/599837\/legendary-gt-computing-instructor-bill-leahy-retires\u0022\u003EBill Leahy\u003C\/a\u003E. Failure teaches you profound lessons about your work and, more importantly, about yourself,\u0026rdquo; Galil said.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Persistence is one of the greatest virtues, and when paired with talent and ambition, can produce greatness. Each of you has that within you, and I hope your time at Georgia Tech has helped you find it. So, congratulations and best of luck as you step into a much wider world. I leave you with one more quote, from no less than the great \u003Cstrong\u003ETony Stark\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026shy; \u0026ndash; \u0026lsquo;Go break some eggs.\u0026rsquo;\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThis spring, the College\u0026rsquo;s faculty represented about 9 percent of Georgia Tech faculty.
