We had\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/opinion\/2016\/05\/09\/letters-at-a-time-of-global-instability-britain-needs-to-stand-u\/\u0022\u003Einterventions\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;from former NATO Secretary Generals saying that we \u0026ndash; the alliance \u0026ndash; need a strong UK fully engaged in Europe, that there was no separation between political, economic, or security issues. They talked about Russia basically being an adversary; Stoltenberg\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.euractiv.com\/section\/europe-s-east\/news\/nato-chief-warns-of-brexit-instability\/\u0022\u003Eissued such statements\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;as well. There was also talk of the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander being switched to an EU member state, such as France. On the other hand, there were people that argued that the UK would become more involved in NATO to maintain its influence, once free from the EU. What\u0026rsquo;s your perspective of the implications of Brexit as far as the UK\u0026rsquo;s relationship with NATO, and NATO-Europe relations in general, are concerned?\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EPhil Breedlove (PB):\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;My view is not shared by a lot of people, but I have a series of thoughts as to why I feel like I do.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EFirst and foremost, the UK leaving the EU, to me, doesn\u0026rsquo;t threaten European security. Because the UK is not leaving NATO, and NATO is the military security of Europe.
