Abstract:

The purpose of the proposed research is to develop computational techniques capable of characterizing singularity expansion of the magnetic polarizability tensor of a wide set of conducting targets. The singularity expansion characterizes the frequency-dependent magnetic polarizability tensor that encapsulates a target's response to a wideband electromagnetic induction (EMI) sensor. The expansion coefficients are valuable for target detection and classification using EMI sensors because they do not depend on the measurement system and can be scaled to represent a larger family of targets.
