Garg\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;is a professor of chemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHe received a B.S. in Chemistry from New York University where he did undergraduate research with \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/as.nyu.edu\/faculty\/marc-walters.html\u0022\u003EMarc Walters\u003C\/a\u003E. During his undergraduate years, he spent several months in Strasbourg, France, conducting research with \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.usias.fr\/en\/fellows\/fellows-2015\/mir-wais-hosseini\/\u0022\u003EMir Wais Hosseini \u003C\/a\u003Eat Universit\u0026eacute; Louis Pasteur as a National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates\u0026nbsp;Fellow.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGarg obtained his Ph.D. in 2005 from the California Institute of Technology under the direction of \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.stoltz.caltech.edu\/\u0022\u003EBrian Stoltz\u003C\/a\u003E. He then joined \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.chem.uci.edu\/people\/larry-e-overman\u0022\u003ELarry Overman\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026#39;s research laboratory at the University of California, Irvine as a National Institutes of Health\u0026nbsp;Postdoctoral Scholar.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn 2007, Garg joined the faculty at UCLA.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAbout the Cherry Emerson Lecture Series\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nSpeakers in this series are selected and hosted by graduate students in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The lectures are funded from an endowment provided by Cherry Logan Emerson Jr. His grandfather, William Henry Emerson, was a faculty member when Georgia Tech was founded in 1888 and served as head of the department of chemistry. His father, Cherry L.
