Ling-Ling Nie is General Counsel and Vice President for Ethics and Compliance at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she serves as chief legal counsel for the Institute and is a member of the President’s Cabinet.
She previously served as Chief Compliance Officer & Assistant General Counsel at Panasonic Corporation of North America, where she was responsible for managing the global corporate compliance and ethics program for over 25 subsidiaries and division companies. Prior to that, she served as a Senior Advisor to the General Counsel at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
In 2019, she was selected as a University of Georgia “40 Under 40” honoree, and was the recipient of the Women’s Leadership Award from the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association. She is a former division President of Panasonic’s Women Connect organization and currently serves as a Global Mentor for the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA). Ling-Ling also serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Lawyers for the Arts and the Actor’s Express Theatre.
She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and received her law degree from Washington and Lee University’s School of Law, and is licensed to practice in both Georgia and Virginia.

ABOUT THE DOCUMENTARY
Set in rural Southwest Georgia, Fair Game: Surviving A 1960 Georgia Lynching is a vivid portrait of a town notorious for lynchings. As JFK was making a White House run in May 1960, a 24-year-old Black Navy vet from Bayonne, New Jersey, joined a friend on a road trip home. But little did James Fair, Jr. know how ill-timed his arrival in rural Early County, Georgia would be. Less than three days later, he’d find himself facing Georgia's electric chair for the rape and murder of an 8-year old girl he didn't know.
This narrative chronicles the riveting 26-month campaign spearheaded by Fair's mother, who unwittingly raised the money, mobilized the media and assembled a crackerjack legal team willing to go to the mat for her son.
Featuring Clinton presidential advisor Vernon Jordan, a law clerk on the case, and former White House cabinet secretary Dr. Louis W. Sullivan, who hails from the town where the case unfolded, the 65-minute film offers an unforgettable portrait of Jim Crow justice gone awry.

The challenges and the potential stress can be compounded if the student/post-doc also needs to manage family responsibilities, including the care of a small child (or children). In a dialogue event held during Fall 2018, students and post-doctoral fellows shared some of the challenges they face while managing research/work and family responsibilities. This event will focus on current and potential mechanisms and resources that could alleviate these challenges or provide support.

We will discuss the current undergraduate population at Georgia Tech, how applications are reviewed, and how decisions are made to shape the Institute into a global leader in education and innovation. Additionally, we’ll share stories some stories behind the stats that are helping Tech live out our motto and fulfill our mission in the constantly changing landscape of undergraduate admissions.
Rick Clark is the director of Undergraduate Admission at Georgia Tech. In this role, he directs the Institute’s recruitment and enrollment efforts, manages the review and selection of all undergraduate applications, and leads the admission team. Under his leadership, the Institute has dramatically increased applicant selectivity, raised the overall academic profile, and exceeded goals for geographic, gender, and ethnic diversity.
As vice provost for Enrollment Services, Paul Kohn, Ph.D. oversees Undergraduate Admission, Financial Aid, Scholarships, Registrar, and Enrollment Communications. He serves as chair of the Student Information System (SIS) Governance Committee, served on the Strategic Technology Initiatives Committee, and sits on the SIS-Planning Committee and Technology Governance Steering Committee.

Moreover, 2018 witnesses a breakthrough in the struggle for gender equity and equality through the #MeToo movement as the “Silence Breakers” were named TIME’s 2017 Person of the Year.
During Georgia Tech’s Fifth Annual Black History Month Lecture, “Giving Voice to Justice for 50 Years,” Angela Rye, principal and CEO of IMPACT Strategies, political commentator for CNN, and political analyst for NPR, will discuss the recent controversies of sexual harassment, the unmasking of male privilege, and the impact of the #MeToo movement.
