Horsley Wins First Election Bid

Travis Horsley, a 2012 alumnus of the Georgia Tech School of Public Policy, won his first election bid on November 7, 2017. He will be a new councilman-at-large in Hapeville, Georgia. Located near Atlanta-Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, the community is home to Porsche’s North American headquarters.

Horsley says that he plans to focus on livability, public safety, capacity-building, openness and transparency, economic development, cost-savings in the budgetary process, and analytics-based municipal management. Horsley believes that the City of Hapeville sits at the juxtaposition of major change, and he would like to be part of this movement.

As a student at Georgia Tech, Horsley co-founded Tubing Operations for Humanitarian Logistics (TOHL), an enterprise that innovated plastic tubing dropped by a helicopter to deliver water to isolated communities in emergency situations.

Horsley was a recipient of the Ivan Allen Jr Legacy Award presented by the Georgia Tech Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, which is home to the School of Public Policy.

Congratulations, Travis!
