We Remember Former Nunn School Colleague Angie Levin

Retired Nunn School staff member Angie Levin passed away on Monday, October 30, after a long battle with breast cancer.

Angie was a lively presence on campus. She loved all things Korean and had a knack for gracious hospitality. She made friends with everyone, dropping in to offices for a chat and a chuckle. We understand from those who stayed in touch with Angie that her sense of humor remained intact throughout her difficult illness.

Angie joined the staff of Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts in 2000 as an administrator in the Sam Nunn School Center for International Strategy, Technology, and Policy (CISTP). She worked with Professor John Endicott (who went on to become president of Woosong University in Daejeon, South Korea). In that role, she brought to bear a strong background in consular work and a robust network of connections throughout Atlanta and beyond.

Her work included being secretary of the Limited Nuclear Weapons Free Zone for Northeast Asia; administrator of the Korea Initiative; and administrator of the General Ray Davis and Colonel Leslie Callahan Funds. She organized an extensive schedule of programs and events, hosting high profile speakers and guests. Among those she brought to campus were General David Petraeus, at a time when he was the much-admired commander of U.S. CENTCOM.

After retiring from Georgia Tech in April, 2011, Angie remained active in many volunteer organizations related to her professional and personal interests and as a board member of the Callahan Fund at Ivan Allen College.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held in Angie’s honor on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at H.M. Patterson & Son in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

The obituary for Angie may be found on the Legacy website. A remembrance of Angie was featured in the November 4, 2017 Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
