{"597291":{"#nid":"597291","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Study Abroad Opportunity in India--DEADLINE 10\/27","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EIAC 2801 -\u0026nbsp;Global Religions \u0026amp; International Engagement: India\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThis 1-credit elective course taught by\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/candler.emory.edu\/faculty\/profiles\/womack-deanna.html\u0022 rel=\u0022noopener noreferrer\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EDr. Deanna Womack\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;takes the cultural and religious diversity of India as a case study to prepare students for leadership in international, cross-cultural, and religiously plural contexts. Through this course, students will learn about the core beliefs and practices of the three largest religions in India by studying histories of Hindu, Muslim, and Christian communities in South Asia and by witnessing first-hand these communities\u0026rsquo; contemporary practices, needs, and aspirations. While visiting India, students will also encounter other traditions, including Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism. The course begins with a required intensive study abroad experience (from Dec. 27, 2017-January 7, 2018). After returning from India, students will complete some additional work and submit a final project.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThis course is part of the Leadership and Multifaith Program (LAMP), a collaborative endeavor between Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s Ivan Allen College and Candler School of Theology at Emory University (\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/lamp.iac.gatech.edu\/\u0022 id=\u0022LPlnk274126\u0022 rel=\u0022noopener noreferrer\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Ehttp:\/\/lamp.iac.gatech.edu\u003C\/a\u003E).
