The Staff Council is composed of 20 staff members who are nominated and elected for a three-year term. This year, staff will have the opportunity to elect seven new members to the Council whose job titles are classified as the following in \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/ohr.gatech.edu\/staff-job-structures\u0022\u003Ethe Job Classification and Compensation System (JCCS)\u003C\/a\u003E:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EAdministrative and Professional.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ESkilled Trades.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EScientific and Research.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EInformation Technology.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EStaff may nominate more than one person, subject to eligibility \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/staffcouncil.gatech.edu\/content\/nominations-process\u0022\u003Eguidelines\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch4\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EStaff Council Committee Membership\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h4\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EStaff Council committee members work to reinforce the work of the Staff Council through committee activities and programs. Committees are made up of up to 13 staff members who apply for a position, are selected by the committee chairpersons, and serve a one-year term. Each year, staff members interested in serving on a committee must submit an application.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EStaff Council committee work focuses on five specific topics:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ECampus physical environment.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ECommunication.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ECompensation and benefits.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EEmployee engagement.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EEmployee health and well-being.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBecause there are a limited number of spaces on the committees, interested staff should be specific in explaining their skills and desires for committee membership. To qualify to serve on a committee, the staff member should:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EBe a full-time or part-time (at least 20 hours per week).\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EHave completed six months of service to Georgia Tech as of March 13, 2017.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EBe employed with an eligible staff title.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EHave the support of his or her supervisor.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EBe able to spend three to five hours per month on committee work.
