This series is hosted by the Global Development Program at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs. Through the academic year, we will be hosting events for students and faculty on themes aligned with areas and concerns of global development.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAbstract:\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThis talk explores case studies emerging from UNICEF\u0026rsquo;s Innovations Lab Kosovo in practice and through the lens of the Digital Principles.\u0026nbsp;We\u0026rsquo;ll look at the development of tech-enabled and tech-centric interventions from real-time humanitarian performance monitoring tools, systems for enabling information exchange, and open source tech for distributed sense-making. We\u0026rsquo;ll look at the ways these initiatives reflect (or not!) best practices, and talk about whether those \u0026ldquo;best practices\u0026rdquo; inform our response to emerging questions like net neutrality and the \u0026ldquo;success to the successful\u0026rdquo; dynamic of open data.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EBio:\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EJosh Harvey is Director of Research and Development at CARE.\u0026nbsp;Before CARE, his consulting practice supported UNDP, UNICEF, and the government of Montenegro to employ design thinking and participatory and co-design approaches to develop policy and improve services. Josh was previously Lead at UNICEF Innovations Lab in Kosovo (\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.kosovoinnovations.org\/\u0022\u003Ewww.kosovoinnovations.org\u003C\/a\u003E). Prior to joining the Lab, Josh built out the technology sector partnerships practice with the U.S. Fund for UNICEF\u0026rsquo;s Strategic Partnerships and UNICEF Ventures team. Josh holds a Master\u0026rsquo;s degree in International Development and Education from Columbia University Graduate School of Education, a BA from Dickinson College, and is a former Teach for America corps member (Newark \u0026lsquo;06). He is an advisor to the EU Horizon 2020 Citizen Science project, Techfugees, and Prishtina\u0026rsquo;s first Hackerspace, and is co-author of \u0026ldquo;LabCraft: How Social Labs Cultivate Change through Innovation and Collaboration\u0026rdquo;.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhere is the Design Bloc?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Design Bloc is easily accessed from Clough. Take the elevators closest to Starbucks in Clough to the 4th floor. Exit the elevators and take an immediate left, entering into the library as you keep walking. Once you\u0026#39;ve swiped your ID, you\u0026#39;ll see a set of stairs to your left almost immediately.
