Li have a recent publication in the China Economic Review entitled\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EDemand for MOOC - An Application of Big Data\u003C\/em\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn the dissertation, they evaluate factors affecting the demand for MOOC by estimating its demand function in OECD countries and in China. They apply a Big Data approach to construct a proxy for MOOC demand using Google Trends for OECD and Baidu Index for China. Based on estimation results of various panel data models, these two also find that in both cases, higher unemployment promotes MOOC demand.
