{"596509":{"#nid":"596509","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Youn Chosen for KEF Scholarship ","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EYeo Joon Youn has received a Kwanjeong Education Foundation (KEF) Scholarship that will sponsor his Ph.D. study while he is at the Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE).\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EEstablished in\u0026nbsp;2000, the mission of the KEF is to provide scholarships for excellent Korean students\u0026nbsp;studying\u0026nbsp;abroad and enable them to concentrate on their studies and develop their full potential.\u0026nbsp;Each year, the KEF selects distinguished Korean students\u0026nbsp;who will pursue their advanced studies in\u0026nbsp;widely\u0026nbsp;recognized\u0026nbsp;universities outside of Korea and\u0026nbsp;offers up\u0026nbsp;to five years of financial\u0026nbsp;support for students\u0026nbsp;pursuing\u0026nbsp;doctoral degrees.\u0026nbsp;The scholarship recipients are selected based on their\u0026nbsp;outstanding\u0026nbsp;undergraduate\u0026nbsp;academic performance,\u0026nbsp;the excellence of\u0026nbsp;their graduate programs, and the potential\u0026nbsp;impact of their graduate research.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EJoun\u0026nbsp;began pursuing his Ph.D. studies this fall in the Georgia Tech Electronics and Micro-Systems\u0026nbsp;(GEMS)\u0026nbsp;Lab, which is directed by ECE Assistant Professor and Demetrius T. Paris Junior Professor Hua Wang. His Ph.D. research focuses on multi-modal hybrid biology\/nano-electronics systems for sensing, actuation, and energy harvesting.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EJoun\u0026nbsp;received his\u0026nbsp;B.Sc. in ECE\u0026nbsp;at Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea (Summa Cum Laude) in summer\u0026nbsp;2017. He received a two-year\u0026nbsp;National Scholarship for Science and Engineering from\u0026nbsp;the Korea Student Aid Foundation in 2014-2015.
