A record number of students applied for acceptance to Georgia Tech this year, with applications exceeding 31,500.

Students in the high-achieving group have average SAT scores of 1360–1490, ACT scores of 30–34, an A grade point average, and have taken an average of 8–13 college-level courses. The students represent 55 countries, 47 states, and 1,260 high schools (317 in Georgia). The class is 43 percent female — a record high — and 57 percent male.  

Students are not only applying to Georgia Tech in record numbers, but they’re also staying. Tech’s average freshman-to-sophomore retention rate is at an all-time high of 97 percent. No longer does the old anecdote of “look to your left, look to your right, one of you won’t be back next year” ring true on campus.

As this class arrives on campus, the next admission cycle has already begun. This week, Georgia Tech joins the University of Georgia, Georgia State University, and several others for the start of the Peach State Tour. The three colleges will visit communities around the state and meet with prospective students, bringing admission representatives to within 50 miles of every high schooler in Georgia.
