  <title><![CDATA[Wildfires Pollute Air More Than Previously Thought. Are Prescribed Burns the Answer?]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>A recent Georgia Tech-led&nbsp;<a href="http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/2016JD026315/full">study</a> on wildfires and air pollution remains timely, thanks to uncontrolled fires that are still plaguing parts of the U.S.&nbsp;The study showed that wildfires release three times more of fine-particle pollution that previously thought. That&#39;s the kind of pollution that can exacerbate&nbsp;health&nbsp;problems like asthma or&nbsp;pulmonary disease. <a href="http://www.eas.gatech.edu/people/Greg_Huey">Greg Huey</a>, professor and chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, is one of the authors of the study.&nbsp;</p>
