  <title><![CDATA[Widely felt earthquake shakes Augusta, Georgia]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>While everybody was wondering whether&nbsp;June&nbsp;20th&#39;s special election in Georgia would set off a political earthquake, an actual 3.2 magnitude tremor&nbsp;struck&nbsp;the area around Augusta. No damage was reported, but it was felt 140 miles away in&nbsp;Atlanta.&nbsp;It also&nbsp;gave the makers of <a href="http://temblor.net">Temblor</a>, a mobile&nbsp;app that calculates quake risk where you live, a chance to write on their blog about how often earthquakes&nbsp;hit the eastern U.S. For insight into the seismic activity in our region, the Temblor blog team&nbsp;spoke with <a href="http://www.eas.gatech.edu/people/Andrew_Newman">Andrew Newman</a>, an associate professor in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.&nbsp;</p>
