At the time of the challenge closing, Qiu had the top solution for two of the four challenges making him the overall winner of the challenge. The CYTO 2017 Image analysis challenge proposed four tasks where the aim was to classify fluorescence microscopy images from the Human Protein Atlas database (\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.proteinatlas.org\u0022\u003Ewww.proteinatlas.org\u003C\/a\u003E) presented in a recently published study (\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/science.sciencemag.org\/content\/early\/2017\/05\/10\/science.aal3321.full\u0022\u003EThul et al., \u003Cem\u003EScience\u003C\/em\u003E, 2017\u003C\/a\u003E). The images visualized immunostaining of human proteins and the aim of the challenge was to recognize the patterns of protein subcellular distribution to major organelles and fine substructures.
