The spirit of the speech is to come from a sophomore, but students who have over 30 credit hours due to transfer credit may still apply.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch4\u003E\u003Cem\u003ESpeech Requirements\u003C\/em\u003E\u003C\/h4\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe New Student Convocation\u0026nbsp;speech is approximately five minutes in length. The message should be reflective on your first year at Georgia Tech and include words of wisdom for the incoming class.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EApplicants must feel comfortable speaking at a podium in front of a very large audience. We encourage students to view previous speeches and visit with the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.communicationcenter.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ECommunication\u0026nbsp;Center\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;to help them prepare their speech.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch4\u003E\u003Cem\u003ESelection Process\u003C\/em\u003E\u003C\/h4\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAll submissions will be reviewed by a committee consisting of faculty and staff, who will select the winner.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOnce selected, the speaker is required to work with the Communication Center during the semester and meet in-person with event organizers for final review prior to Commencement. Students do not need to be living on campus to qualify, but must return to campus by Friday, August 18.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch4\u003E\u003Cem\u003EHow to Apply and\u0026nbsp;Application Deadline\u003C\/em\u003E\u003C\/h4\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EStudents must submit a video of them reciting their entire speech.
