  <title><![CDATA[Electric Sand: How Titan's Dunes Got Their Weird Shapes]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>A billion kilometers away from Earth&#39;s oldest and most majestic sand dunes, Saturn&#39;s moon Titan is also sporting some impressive features at its equatorial deserts,&nbsp;thanks to radar imaging from the Cassini orbiter. Yet Titan&#39;s dunes aren&#39;t just formed by winds; electrostatic forces are also at work, according to <a href="http://www.nature.com/ngeo/journal/v10/n4/full/ngeo2921.html">new research</a> from&nbsp;School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Professor&nbsp;<a href="http://geophysics.eas.gatech.edu/dufek/">Josef Dufek</a>,&nbsp;and graduate students&nbsp;<a href="http://www.eas.gatech.edu/people/Josh_Mendez">Josh Mendez Harper&nbsp;</a>and&nbsp;<a href="http://www.eas.gatech.edu/content/mcdonald-george">George McDonald</a>.</p>
