Damron, who received his PhD in Mathematics from New York University in 2009, has been teaching at Georgia Tech for about 2 years. He is in the Postdoc committee and Graduate committee in the School of Mathematics. Damron will be presenting next week at the \u003Ca class=\u0022Hyperlink SCX188954939\u0022 href=\u0022https:\/\/www.math.cornell.edu\/m\/event-list-p\/probsem\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003ECornell Probability Seminar\u003C\/a\u003E and in May at the \u003Ca class=\u0022Hyperlink SCX188954939\u0022 href=\u0022https:\/\/sites.duke.edu\/sepc\/\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003ESoutheastern Probability Conference\u003C\/a\u003E held at Duke University.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003ERecently, Damron was awarded the NSF CAREER grant, a $400,000 grant, to carry on research in \u0026quot;Distances in Random Media\u0026quot;.\u0026nbsp;His research includes Dynamical Systems, Probability Theory in Applications of Physics, and Statistics and he has nearly 30 journal publications on past studies. He was also an instructor at Princeton University and taught at Indiana University prior to coming to Tech.\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Ch4\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EJosephine Yu\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/h4\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca class=\u0022Hyperlink SCX188954939\u0022 href=\u0022http:\/\/math.gatech.edu\/people\/josephine-yu\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EJosephine Yu\u003C\/a\u003E has been teaching at Georgia Tech since 2010, specifically on courses on Abstract Algebra and Mathematical Proof. Josephine has helped organize and speak at a multitude of conferences and workshops, such as SIAM conference on Discrete Mathematics and the \u003Ca class=\u0022Hyperlink SCX188954939\u0022 href=\u0022https:\/\/as.vanderbilt.edu\/econ\/seminars-and-research\/mechanism_design_conference.php\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EMechanism Design Conference\u003C\/a\u003E held at Vanderbilt University. Josephine has several upcoming events, including an AIM workshop next week on Foundations of Tropical Schemes and \u003Ca class=\u0022Hyperlink SCX188954939\u0022 href=\u0022https:\/\/mega2017.inria.fr\/\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EMEGA 2017\u003C\/a\u003E, an international conference on effective methods in algebraic geometry.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EYu, who has research focuses on Algebra and Discrete mathematics. Kang, who has over 30 publications, is currently the CSE PhD and master\u0026#39;s program coordinator in the School of Mathematics. \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EKang has been a co-organizer of several \u003Ca class=\u0022Hyperlink SCX188954939\u0022 href=\u0022http:\/\/www.siam.org\/\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003ESociety for Industrial and Applied Mathematics\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp; Conferences on Imaging Science. Known for her findings, Kang is invited to present her research at multiple universities, conferences, and seminars a number of times a year in the US, South Korea, and China.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EKang received her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of California in2002. She was awarded in over $250k in research grants to expand her focuses on Image Processing.
