The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory is ranked No. 3 (tied with Stanford and UC San Diego) in U.S. News & World Report’s latest ranking of the nation’s top graduate biomedical engineering programs. The department is a partnership between Emory University’s School of Medicine and Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering.

“Our continued recruitment of the world’s best scholars has amplified the special synergy between Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering and the Emory School of Medicine,” said C. Ross Ethier, interim chair of the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering. “Our cutting-edge biomedical research, world-class infrastructure, and innovative programs attract the brightest graduate students from around the world.”

For the sixth consecutive year, all 11 of Georgia Tech’s graduate engineering programs are ranked in the top 10 in their respective fields in the U.S. News & World Report graduate 2018 rankings of national universities granting engineering doctoral degrees.

Overall the Georgia Tech College of Engineering’s graduate programs are ranked seventh in the country and third among public colleges.

“The breadth and depth of our graduate programs are a point of pride at Georgia Tech,” said Gary S. May, dean of the College of Engineering. “We strive to be the best in all that we do and these rankings are evidence that our efforts are being noticed. Georgia Tech offers graduate students access to world-class faculty and research facilities and an opportunity to work across disciplines in some very unique and exciting ways, making it an excellent option for the engineers of tomorrow.”
