As the temperatures rise and swimsuit season approaches, body image can become a popular topic for many college students. Luckily, Georgia Tech’s annual Campaign for EveryBody will take place this week. During this week, members of the Tech community will have the opportunity to examine their perceptions of body image and participate in discussions about related issues. Start the week off by heading to a screening of the documentary The Fat Body (In)Visible at 6 p.m. in room 320, Student Center.
If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to paint, now is your chance. The Student Center Programs Council is sponsoring a painting class led by a skilled instructor. All supplies will be provided, along with cookies from Tiff’s Treats. Sessions are offered from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. or from 7 to 9 p.m. Purchase your $15 ticket here.
All Tech students are invited to join President G.P. "Bud" Peterson for conversations about the educational landscape and issues facing Georgia Tech. He will be joined by Provost Rafael L. Bras at this session. Questions can be submitted online here.
The Alpha Eta Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa hosts Mark Emmert, president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Emmert will be talk about his perspective on student athletes and collegiate life in addition to answering questions from the audience.
All spring graduates are encouraged to attend Commencement Fair — the one-stop shop for graduating bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. students to complete their Commencement requirements. Head to the Student Center Ballroom to check on your degree status report, RSVP for Commencement, get a picture taken with Buzz, and more.
Friday is the deadline to apply for the Round One event, presented by Alpha Kappa Psi and Startup Exchange. Round One is a competition for Georgia Tech students to showcase their startups to angel investors in the Atlanta area. Apply here.
Join China Care for their annual Spring Carnival. For $10, students get 10 tickets to play carnival-inspired games and purchase food including funnel cakes, popcorn, scallion pancakes, and pork bones. Stop by the Campanile for a fun Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday, enjoy an afternoon of sports by attending a tennis match or baseball game. Tech will take on Florida State in tennis and Belmont in baseball. Take advantage of the lovely weather and head out to support the Jackets.
