Celebrate Presidents Day by attending a Student Government Association (SGA) Elections Info Session. The session will cover the layout of the Executive Branch and the Undergraduate House of Representatives, as well as the process of campaigning and voting in SGA. If you’re interested in running for any SGA position, attendance at an info session is mandatory. Additional info sessions will be held on Feb. 21 at 11 a.m., Feb. 23 at 11 a.m., and Feb. 24 at 4 p.m.
In between classes, stop by to view the design work from the undergraduate studios of the School of Industrial Design. The exhibit will run until March 1. Support your peers and enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Unleash your inner paleontologist during Fossil Wednesdays, every Wednesday through May 3. At these events, you will have the opportunity to study 30,000-year-old fossil specimens from rock matrix that have been brought back from Natural Trap Cave, Wyoming. These specimens are part of a research project that is examining how the community of species living around the Natural Trap Cave have changed since the extinction of certain species that used to live in North America.
The annual Clough Art Crawl lets students to close their books, take a break, and enjoy the therapeutic effects of art. Come see the blank walls of Clough Commons transform into a make-shift gallery centered around the artistic works of Tech students, and enjoy live performances on opening night.
Students are invited to welcome Ambassador Luis Gallegos, Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the United Nations in Geneva from November 2011 to June 2014. He will give a lecture on the launch of the first international treaty recognizing the rights of persons with disabilities. The Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities just celebrated the 10th anniversary of its adoption by the United Nations. RSVP here.
If you’re on campus Saturday, visit the Kappa Sigma house for the group's first annual Coffee House philanthropy event. This event benefits the Kappa Sigma Military Heroes Campaign, which provides assistance to wounded veterans upon their return from serving for the United States. For $5, participants can sample coffee from various coffee shops around Atlanta.
Head out to the Atlanta’s only urban fair, held from Feb. 24 – April 2. This event has games, food, and entertainment. Take a break from your studies and enjoy funnel cake, thrilling rides, and musical performances.
