CEE\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAbstract:\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDual\u0026nbsp;Phase\u0026nbsp;(DP)\u0026nbsp;Steels\u0026nbsp;are\u0026nbsp;a\u0026nbsp;class\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;Advanced\u0026nbsp;High\u0026nbsp;Strength\u0026nbsp;Sheet\u0026nbsp;(AHSS)\u0026nbsp;Steels\u0026nbsp;used\u0026nbsp;as\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;structural\u0026nbsp;components\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;an\u0026nbsp;automobile\u0026nbsp;owing\u0026nbsp;to\u0026nbsp;their\u0026nbsp;good\u0026nbsp;combination\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;strength\u0026nbsp;to\u0026nbsp;weight\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eratio,\u0026nbsp;formability\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;crashworthiness.\u0026nbsp;The\u0026nbsp;microstructure\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;DP\u0026nbsp;steels\u0026nbsp;consists\u0026nbsp;mostly\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;ferrite\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;martensite.\u0026nbsp;In\u0026nbsp;order\u0026nbsp;to\u0026nbsp;provide\u0026nbsp;corrosion\u0026nbsp;protection,\u0026nbsp;DP\u0026nbsp;steels\u0026nbsp;may\u0026nbsp;also\u0026nbsp;have\u0026nbsp;a\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003Egalvannealed\u0026nbsp;layer.\u0026nbsp;Additionally,\u0026nbsp;to\u0026nbsp;improve\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;bendability\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;galvannealed\u0026nbsp;DP\u0026nbsp;steels,\u0026nbsp;some\u0026nbsp;commercial\u0026nbsp;grades\u0026nbsp;may\u0026nbsp;also\u0026nbsp;contain\u0026nbsp;a\u0026nbsp;\u0026rdquo;decarburized\u0026rdquo;\u0026nbsp;surface\u0026nbsp;layer.\u0026nbsp;This\u0026nbsp;leads\u0026nbsp;to\u0026nbsp;a\u0026nbsp;gradient\u0026nbsp;in\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;carbon\u0026nbsp;content\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;in\u0026nbsp;turn\u0026nbsp;in\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;microstructure\u0026nbsp;along\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;thickness\u0026nbsp;direction.\u0026nbsp;Thus,\u0026nbsp;mechanical\u0026nbsp;properties\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;these\u0026nbsp;steels\u0026nbsp;depend\u0026nbsp;on\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;geometric\u0026nbsp;attributes\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;bulk\u0026nbsp;microstructure\u0026nbsp;and\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ethe\u0026nbsp;chemistry, and the\u0026nbsp;thickness\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;microstructure\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;decarburized\u0026nbsp;layer\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;protective\u0026nbsp;galvannealed\u0026nbsp;coating.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDP\u0026nbsp;steels\u0026nbsp;are\u0026nbsp;exposed\u0026nbsp;to\u0026nbsp;strain\u0026nbsp;rates\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;order\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;10\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003E\u0026minus;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/em\u003E10\u003Csup\u003E2\u003C\/sup\u003E\/s\u0026nbsp;during\u0026nbsp;sheet\u0026nbsp;metal\u0026nbsp;forming\u0026nbsp;operations,\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;strain\u0026nbsp;rates\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;order\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;10\u003Csup\u003E2\u003C\/sup\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003E\u0026minus;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/em\u003E10\u003Csup\u003E4\u003C\/sup\u003E\/s\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;can\u0026nbsp;be\u0026nbsp;reached\u0026nbsp;under\u0026nbsp;an\u0026nbsp;automotive\u0026nbsp;crash\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003Econdition.\u0026nbsp;The\u0026nbsp;intellectual\u0026nbsp;merit\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;proposed\u0026nbsp;research\u0026nbsp;is\u0026nbsp;that\u0026nbsp;it\u0026nbsp;will\u0026nbsp;lead\u0026nbsp;to\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;scientific\u0026nbsp;understanding\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;how\u0026nbsp;microstructure,\u0026nbsp;microstructural\u0026nbsp;gradients,\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;surface\u0026nbsp;coatings\u0026nbsp;affect\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003Estrain\u0026nbsp;rate\u0026nbsp;dependence\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;fracture\u0026nbsp;path,\u0026nbsp;fracture\u0026nbsp;micromechanisms\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;mechanical\u0026nbsp;response\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;DP\u0026nbsp;steels.\u0026nbsp;The\u0026nbsp;results\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;this\u0026nbsp;work\u0026nbsp;will\u0026nbsp;be\u0026nbsp;useful\u0026nbsp;for\u0026nbsp;design\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;development\u0026nbsp;of\u0026nbsp;DP\u0026nbsp;steels\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ewith\u0026nbsp;superior\u0026nbsp;formability\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;crashworthiness.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":"","field_summary_sentence":[{"value":"Effects
