Yaszek discussed Sisters of Tomorrow: The First Women of Science Fiction, a new anthology she co-edited that compiles stories, essays, poems, and illustrations by the women of early science fiction. While the genre of science fiction has a longstanding reputation for highlighting male perspectives and characters, Yaszek’s anthology documents the contributions of women science fiction luminaries and links this work to larger patterns of literary and cultural production in twentieth-century America.

Yaszek formerly served as president of the Science Fiction Research Association and as a juror for the John W. Campbell and Eugie Foster Memorial Awards. Her other books include Galactic Suburbia: Recovering Women’s Science Fiction (Ohio State University Press 2008) and the co-edited volume Practicing Science Fiction: Critical Essays on Writing, Reading and Teaching the Genre (McFarland 2010)
