Some of these research dollars will go to a metabolomics and proteomics (\u0026ldquo;omics\u0026rdquo;) analytics team from Emory University and Georgia Tech.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ENIH\u0026rsquo;s \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/commonfund.nih.gov\/MolecularTransducers\u0022\u003EMolecular Transducers of Physical Activity in Humans Program (MoTrPAC)\u003C\/a\u003E tasks researchers to create a comprehensive map of the molecular changes that occur in response to physical activity. The information could help researchers and doctors develop personalized exercise recommendations.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ETo create this comprehensive map, researchers across the country will collect samples from peoples of various races, ethnic groups, sex, ages, and fitness levels. Analyzing samples is where Emory and Georgia Tech researchers come in the picture.\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Atlanta researchers will take \u0026ldquo;omics\u0026rdquo; measurements from a variety of biofluid samples, says Facundo M. Fern\u0026aacute;ndez, a professor in the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.chemistry.gatech.edu\/faculty\/fernandez\/\u0022\u003ESchool of Chemistry and Biochemistry\u003C\/a\u003E who is leading the effort from the Georgia Tech side. Emory\u0026rsquo;s \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/medicine.emory.edu\/pulmonary-allergy-critical-care\/faculty-directory\/jones-dean-p.html\u0022\u003EDean P. Jones\u003C\/a\u003E is the principal investigator for the Emory-Georgia Tech team, which is formally called \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/grantome.com\/grant\/NIH\/U24-DK112341-01\u0022\u003EGeorgia Comprehensive Metabolomics and Proteomics Unit for MoTrPAC\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Specifically, Georgia Tech will be looking at changes in protein relative abundances, while Emory will be looking at protein post-translational modifications of those proteins.
