<![CDATA[Internship with the Commission on Pollution, Health, and Development]]>
The Commission on Pollution, Health and Development is an initiative of The Lancet, the Global Alliance on Health and Pollution (GAHP), and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The Commission comprises many of the world's most influential leaders, researchers and practitioners in the fields of pollution management, environmental health and sustainable development. The aim of the Commission is to communicate the extraordinary health and economic costs of pollution globally, providing actionable solutions to policy-makers and dispelling the myth of pollution's inevitability. The Commission Report will be published in The Lancet in first quarter 2017.
Intern responsibilities:
1. Commission Outreach - Support the outreach work of the Commission on Pollution, Health and Development
- Establish connections and relationships with environmental NGOs in LMICs, communicate findings of Commission report.
- Promote participation in NatGeo "Your Shot" assignment on pollution
- Screen organizations to add to list of civil society partners
- Maintain contact database with communications log
- Execute coordinated social media plan involving all partner/supporting organizations.
- Recruit participation in #TellYourPollutionStory event.
2. Support and assist in the launch of the Health and Pollution Planning Process creating a roadmap for countries to address, control and remediate priority pollution problems.
- Research - Preliminary desk review of all types of pollution in countries targeted for the Health and Pollution Planning process
- Literature review
- Document pollution control activities in GAHP member countries
- Update country data sheets based on new data
- Develop program materials
- Help with logistics for in-country workshops
20 hours a week , $12 per hour
November 2016 start, Duration 6 months
Foreign language skills preferred.
