We invite proposals for papers that investigate the ways in which notions of \u0026ldquo;public\u0026rdquo; and \u0026ldquo;private\u0026rdquo; have been constructed historically. Proposals may explore this relationship in any number of ways, including but not limited to:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EGovernment, the state, and civil life\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ECommerce, trade, and the market\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EMedia, consumption, and the creation of publics\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EEducation\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EReligion\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EAssociational life and civic society\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EIdentity and subjectivity\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGraduate students in any discipline are welcome to apply, and panel proposals will also be accepted.
