Attendees of this symposium are young researchers who have already made recognized contributions to science. These include recipients of major national fellowships and awards and those who have been identified as future leaders in science. 

Only 43 Georgia Tech faculty have been invited since the symposium begain in 1989. Moreno-Cruz is the first faculty member from the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts to be invited and only the 23rd attendee of the 5,261 young researchers who have been invited who declared economics as their research interest. David Autor of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Jonathan Levin of Stanford University, Jacob Goercee of the California Institute of Technology, Benjamin Hendel of the University of California, Berkely, and Lawrence Summers of Harvard University are among the prestigious economists invited to the symposium.
