  <title><![CDATA[Digital Media Professor Janet Murray speaking at The Tech Fest hosted by The New Yorker]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://techfest.newyorker.com/#program">The Tech</a> fest by The New Yorker, will host&nbsp;a full-day program exploring the most compelling stories in technology today. Global leaders, entrepreneurs, scientists, and thinkers join&nbsp;New Yorker&nbsp;writers and editors to discuss the innovations that are shaping our world. the Tech fest takes place on&nbsp;Friday October 7,&nbsp;2016.</p>

<p>Our very own <a href="http://homes.lmc.gatech.edu/~murray/">Janet Murray</a> will be appearing at the New Yorker TechFest to discuss the future of Virtual Reality storytelling. Janet is&nbsp;an interaction designer and a media theorist who focusses on digital narratives, and the author of &ldquo;Hamlet on the Holodeck: The Future of Narrative in Cyberspace&rdquo; and &ldquo;Inventing the Medium: Principles of Interaction Design as a Cultural Practice.&rdquo; She is the associate dean for research and faculty affairs and the Ivan Allen College Dean&rsquo;s Professor at the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at Georgia Institute of Technology, where she directs the eTV Lab, which creates prototypes for story-driven interactive designs.</p>
