Cha (Ph.D. Columbia, BA\/MA Oxford) has served as Director of Asian Affairs at the White House National Security Council and Deputy Head of the U.S. Delegation to the Six Party Talks. He is the award-winning author of \u003Cem\u003EAlignment Despite Antagonism: The United States-Korea-Japan Security Triangle\u003C\/em\u003E (Stanford University Press, winner of the 2000 Ohira Book Prize) and Nuclear North Korea: A Debate on Engagement Strategies (Columbia University Press, 2003).\n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EHe has written articles on international relations and East Asia in journals including \u003Cem\u003EForeign Affairs\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003EInternational Security\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003EPolitical Science Quarterly\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003ESurvival\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003EInternational Studies Quarterly\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003EJournal of Strategic Studies\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003EThe Washington Quarterly\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003EOrbis\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003EJournal of Peace Research\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003ESecurity Dialogue\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003EAustralian Journal of International Affairs\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003EJapanese Journal of Political Science\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003EKorean Studies\u003C\/em\u003E, and \u003Cem\u003EAsian Survey\u003C\/em\u003E.\n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EAt Georgetown, Cha teaches courses in both the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and Department of Government and has served as director of the American Alliances in Asia Project. Cha is the recipient of numerous academic awards including MacArthur Foundation Fellowships and two Fulbright Scholarships. He also spent two years as a John M. Olin National Security fellow at Harvard University, and as a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University\u0027s Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC). In 1999, Cha was the Edward Teller National Security Fellow at Stanford University\u0027s Hoover Institution.                            \n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EHe is currently writing a book on the politics of sport in Asia and the Beijing Olympics.
