Houghton was a renowned researcher in atmospheric physics, and the award commemorates his accomplishments in the field of atmospheric physics.\n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EThe American Meteorological Society, founded in 1919, is the main professional society promoting the development of atmospheric and oceanic sciences.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EDr. Nenes holds a joint appointment in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.
