Due to the complex dynamics, however, systematic optimization
of SMB is still a challenging problem. In this work, a tailored approach where the mathematical
model is fully discretized and the resulting nonlinear programming (NLP) problem is solved by
an interior-point solver. The proposed approach is also applied to an SMB superstructure to find
novel operating schemes. Finally, some recent topics are also discussed, such as on-line
optimization and reactive separation.

Yoshiaki Kawajiripresents Optimization of Simulated Moving Bed Chromatography as part of ChBE's spring seminar series.
http://www.gatech.edu/contact/index.html?id=jg234">Contact Josie Giles
404-385-2299
