Maribeth Gandy (right), research scientist in the Interactive Media Technology Center, hosts a demonstration of the augmented reality pit. The pit invites users to walk on planks and view their environment though goggles that project a computer-generated image on their world. Doing so gives viewers a sense that they are navigating a terrain much more dangerous than they actually are.
