Contemporary urban design research confronts a fundamental question: How can the discipline of urban design, building on the platforms of the architecture, landscape architecture and planning professions, contribute to the design and development of diverse, equitable, and culturally significant global cities and local places? Design research – design propositions, explored in specific urban situations and with strategic design experiments in the studio and laboratory – frames Dagenhart’s research investigations in collaboration with urban design students in locations from Atlanta to Dubai to Copenhagen to Shanghai.
