Outdoor Recreation Georgia Tech (ORGT) and FASET join forces to bring Tech’s incoming freshman students the Georgia Tech Adventure Orientation Experience. These incredible elective opportunities provide a great way for new students to meet and bond with other incoming students, increase their social network, reflect on the upcoming journey, and spend quality time in the great outdoors - all before coming to Tech’s campus!

All trips are led by Georgia Tech professional staff as well as professional guides during the more technical activities. We invite upper-class students to attend Tech Treks Southeast to bond with incoming students.

Tech Treks Southeast

Incoming freshman students can choose one of following southeast camping and rafting adventures:

• Option One: departs Friday, July 16, at 5PM (following FASET session) and returns Sunday, July 18, at 6PM
•  Option Two: departs Friday, July 30, at 5PM (following FASET session) and returns Sunday, August 1, at 6PM
• Option Three: departs Saturday, August 28, at 8AM and returns Sunday, August 29, at 6PM

Tech Treks Alaska

More adventurous freshman students are invited to join us on our 10-day Tech Treks Alaskan Adventure, July 30 - August 8, 2010. This is a great opportunity for incoming Tech students to make new friends all while camping under the stars and exploring the big AK!

Students will explore the Alaskan wilderness while backpacking, fishing for dinner, climbing glaciers and hopefully spotting some moose and bears. It is a challenging and once-in-a-lifetime experience for students, who learn much more about themselves and others.

The staff and guides enhance the adventure experience by teaching the following: outdoor ethics, using maps and compasses, Alaska history, culture, flora, fauna and more. In addition, we teach leadership and general Georgia Tech resource knowledge which can be very beneficial in helping your student transition to life at Tech.
