Bras\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/2014WR016169\/full\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Eadvancing the modeling of river watershed evolution in semi-arid areas\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;has been named an Editor\u2019s Choice by the journal\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EWater Resources Research\u003C\/em\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAwarded to only the top one percent of published articles each year, the Editor\u2019s Choice Awards recognize work that\u2019s significant, novel, and original and has broad implications, according to the journal\u2019s editors.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cIt is always a particular honor to be recognized for scholarly work, but it is an even greater pleasure when the honor is shared with members of my extended \u2018scholarly\u2019 family,\u201d said Bras,\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.provost.gatech.edu\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Eprovost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs\u003C\/a\u003E. \u201cAll authors were my students, or students of my students, and to a professor nothing can be better.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIndeed, the research collaboration included strong ties. Two of Bras\u2019 co-authors were former students: J. Homero Flores-Cervantes, now in government service, and Enrique R. Vivoni of Arizona State University.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe third, Omer Yetemen from the Global Institute for Water Security at the University of Saskatchewan, studied with another of Bras\u2019 former doctoral students, Erkan Istanbulluoglu at the University of Washington.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EBras, who holds the K. Harrison Brown Family Chair, is also a professor in the School of CIvil and Environmental Engineering.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003EWater Resources Research\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;is the premier journal of hydrology and water science and is published by the American Geophysical Union (AGU).\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe researchers will formally receive the award at AGU\u2019s fall meeting in San Francisco, December 2016.\u003C\/p\u003E","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":[{"value":"Water Resources Research editors say Bras\u2019 work some of the year\u2019s most significant"}],"field_summary":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EA study by Rafael L.
