550901 news 1467735668 1475896924 <![CDATA[Submit Questions for Georgia Tech Astronaut]]> Georgia Tech master’s graduate Shane Kimbrough (’98, Operations Research) will fly to the International Space Station this September to begin a five-and-a-half-month mission. He and the crew will perform 250 research projects before returning in February. Kimbrough will serve as commander of the space station for three months of his stay.

The retired U.S. Army colonel is one of 14 Georgia Tech astronauts who have flown to space —  he spent 16 days in orbit aboard the space shuttle Endeavor in 2008.

On Thursday, July 7, Georgia Tech will travel to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston to talk to Kimbrough about the upcoming mission, his previous spaceflight, and his days at Georgia Tech.
