However, this decline was the smallest in over a decade.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAmong the other findings for 2014, from the CDC\u2019s National Tuberculosis Surveillance System:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EThe TB rate among foreign-born individuals was 13 times higher than that among U.S.-born people.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAsians continued to have the highest rate, at 18 per 100,000. Whites had the lowest rate (0.6\/100,000).\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EFour states accounted for 50% of cases: California, Florida, New York, and Texas.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAmong the 86% with known HIV status, 6% were positive for HIV infection.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe authors emphasize the need to identify and treat all those with latent TB among high-risk groups in the U.S, such as the foreign-born.
