Nain Wins Best Student Paper Award At MICCAI

(October 16, 2006)--College of Computing Ph.D. student Delphine Nain won the student award for best paper in the category "Segmentation and registration" at the International conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI).

MICCAI is the premier international conference with in-depth full length papers in the multidisciplinary fields of medical image computing, computer-assisted intervention and medical robotics. This year, 578 scientific papers were submitted from which 39 papers were selected for the oral program and 193 papers for the poster program. Nain is among the five student prizes, each awarded in a different category for the best paper with a student first author.

Nain’s paper, also selected for the oral program, is titled "Shape-driven surface segmentation using spherical wavelets" and included co-authors Steven Haker, Aaron Bobick and Allen Tannenbaum. Their work is done in collaboration with the Surgical Planning Laboratory at the Brigham and Women's hospital in Boston.
