Alumnus Blacki Li Rudi Migliozzi (MS HCI-DM '12) wins Malofiej prize

On March 11, HCI-DM alumnus Blacki Li Rudi Migliozzi was awarded one of the top Malofiej prizes for his work “What’s Really Warming the World” that he created with Eric Roston for Bloomberg Business.

The Malofiej International Infographics Awards are today an essential reference for their prestige and drawing power. The Awards, unanimously considered to be the Pulitzers for infographics, the professional workshop “Show Don’t Tell!” and the World Summit in Pamplona annually bring together the best infographers from media (newspapers, magazines, agencies) from around the world.

Migliozzi’s piece addresses the causes of climate change. Three questions drive the contentious debate over climate change. Is the Earth really warming? If so, is man-made pollution really to blame? And is the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere really rising precipitously? In 2015, Bloomberg set out to look beyond the political rhetoric and find hard numbers to answer each of these questions. A definitive guide to the data behind global warming. Read more about Bloomberg's illumination of climate change through data visualizations.

As part of the Multi Agent Robotics and Systems Lab at Georgia Tech, Migliozzi worked on a Bio-Tracking project, which was focused on sensor-based tracking of insects and aimed at analyzing behavior. He also built the rides map for Cycle Atlanta while at Tech.

Migliozzi speaks highly of his time studying at Tech: "I wouldn't have gotten to this point without working with amazing professors like Carl DiSalvo and Jim Foley while I was in LMC."
