  <title><![CDATA[Women, Science, and Technology Distinguished Lecture]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p class="p1">The Georgia Tech Center for the Study of Women, Science, &amp; Technology (WST) Presents its&nbsp;2016 WST Distinguished&nbsp;Lecturer&nbsp;</p><p class="p3"><strong>"Competition or Collaboration? Impact on the Participation and Success of Women in Science and Engineering"</strong></p><p class="p9">Dr. April Brown is the John Cocke Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University; and a scientific leader who heads the extramural research enterprise in the engineering sciences of the US Army. At Duke University, Dr. Brown was past Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as Senior Associate Dean for Research in the Pratt School. Previously, she was Pettit Professor in Microelectronics, Associate Dean in the College of Engineering, and Executive Assistant to the President at Georgia Tech.&nbsp;</p><p class="p10">Dr. Brown received her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University, and her master’s and doctoral degrees from Cornell University. Her research focuses on new materials and electronic devices for advanced sensing and communications; she is the author of numerous publications.
